Lackschilduhren
The most well-known clock from the Black Forest is by far the cuckoo clock. But also the Lackschilduhr has become internationally well-known...The long tradition of the Lackschilduhr production began in around 1770, as the usual plain and functional clocks were painted and decorated for the first time. To begin with, the corners and rounded top, behind which the bell is hidden, above the clock face was decorated. The wooden face is still handpainted today in the traditional manner and is lovingly designed. The motives however vary greatly: scenes from the farming life or the Black Forest nature are often chosen, but also Black Forest architecture is sometimes depicted. When specially requested, Lackschilduhren can be individually decorated with a family crest or as a present for a wedding or birth.
